Xtra Happy I think the reason I love '35 Reasons' to the extent that I do is because it never feels like its trying to impress anyone. Laid bare, open and honest, are a group of bedroom recordings and flash-in-the-pan ideas, roughly jotted down in the moment as inspiration came; maybe to revisit and develop down the line....maybe to just be left as is.

It's humbling to know that even great musicians like John have, at some point, fiddled about on a six string to roughly get some ideas out of their heads. Favorite track: Untitled 10.

Vol. II of the Osees' Lev Sessions is a perfect succesor; digs more oldies out of their ever-growing backcatalog and gives them a fresh coat of paint. Fan favourite 'Tidal Wave' starts things off strong before delving into garage nostalgia with 'The Dream', 'Enemy Destruct' and 'Destroyed Fortress Reappears'. 'Web' and 'Beat Quest' are also great, and it's cute to hear 'Spider Cider' too. The Chrome covers that end things off are really cool; 'SS Cygni' is a hell of a bop to end things off. Xtra Happy

My favourite of the lockdown era livestreams. The Lev Sessions and Red Rocks ones are great too, but Big Sur made "Mutilator Defeated At Last" click for me after I'd struggled with it for a while - those versions of 'Rogue Planet', 'Poor Queen' and 'Withered Hand' are so good, as is 'Gholü' and 'Gelatinous Cube'. The encore of Black Flag covers bang hard as shit too. Also worth a mention are the bonus non-album Panther Rotate experiments at the start of the livestream; an interesting warm-up. Xtra Happy
